Here are the latest updates and news about the Kerala RTC buses: 

  • On Monday, KSRTC is set to initiate interstate operations from Ernakulam to Udumalaipettai. The service is scheduled to commence at 5:15 am, with the arrival at Udumalaipettai expected by noon.
  • Kerala RTC offers trip to celebrate the New Year at 900 Kandi in Wayanad, the bus will start on New year eve and will be return back on 1st January. The bus will be start from Pallakad at 5:00 am and will be return next new year eve. 
  • KSRTC bus accepts digital payments from January 2024 in a phased manner. Now commuters can pay their bus ticket with Credit/debit cards and other mobile app. The ticket machine equipped with QR code, using that they can pay by scanning via PhonePe, G-pay and NFC etc.
  • Kerala RTC launched special Christmas New Year tour packages called "Jungle Bells", these tour originated from popular tourist destinations in kerala like Gavi, Parunthumpara, Vagamon, Wayanad, Munnar, Athirapalli and Malakappara at the budget friendly rates.
  •  To support pilgrims during the Sabarimala Mandala Makaravilakku Mahotsavam, the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation Kerala RTC has initiated special services. Twelve RTC buses are stationed at Kumily in Idukki district, a primary stop for pilgrims. These services, priced at Rs 232, operate independently of regular services. The Pampa bus departs daily from Kumily Depot throughout Mandala Masam, requiring a minimum of 40 passengers. A 24-hour control room is operational at the Kumily town panchayat bus stand.
  • On Friday, the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (Kerala-RTC) filed a writ petition in the Kerala High Court, contesting the All India Tourist Vehicles (Permit) Rules, 2023. These rules permit vehicles with All India tourist permits to function as stage carriages. Additionally, KSRTC has requested a directive for the Transport Commissioner to intervene and address the operation of All India tourist permit vehicles on nationalized routes/sectors and other designated routes.
  • Thiruvananthapuram: In compliance with a government mandate, approximately 5,200 KSRTC buses will soon be equipped with seat belts.
  • Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala State Road Transport Corporation has won UITP (International Association of Public Transport) award at global public transport summit held in Barcelona, Spain. The special award was received by Biju Prabhakar IAS, CMD, KeralaRTC.
  • To guarantee the safety of female passengers at night, the chairman of the KSRTC Kerala has issued an order ordering state bus services to let off female passengers travelling alone at a convenient location between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Except for 'Minnal' services, the order applies to all KSRTC buses.
  • KSRTC Kerala proposes a new colour for swift buses since passengers have difficulty identifying the vehicle. According to the recent revisions, the front of the bus will be light yellow, and super fast buses will be red.
