Pune is also well known as the largest city in the Western Ghats. It is known for its educational facilities and relative prosperity. Pune is the cultural capital of Maharashtra, and is famous for its manufacturing industries like glass, sugar, and forging since the 1950-60s. Jawaharlal Nehru had called this city as “Oxford of The East” due to existence of many major educational institutes. The city also has been known for cultural activities like classical music, spirituality, theatre, sports, and literature. Lonavala, often called Lonavla is a picturesque hill resort situated in the Pune district of Maharashtra. A popular getaway destination, Lonavala is famous for the unique charm that it possesses, especially during the Monsoons. Although it is more renowned as a hill resort, the place has achieved a special place in the gastronomic chart of the country because of a hard candy sweet known as chikki (sweetmeat made out of Groundnuts and Jaggery), which is the specialty of the region. It is also a major railway station placed on the railway line connecting Mumbai and Pune. Lonavala is also an important town along the Mumbai-Pune road. That the place is important is apparent from the fact that both the major highways - the Mumbai-Pune Expressway as well as the Mumbai-Pune highway - passes through Lonavala. Lonavala is the ideal spot to spend a quiet weekend with family and friends, away from the fast-paced city life.
I booked a bus of 9.45 but the bus was late by 1 and half hour, staff was waiting for other people to fill seats
