Mysore, the erstwhile capital of the Wodeyar dynasty, is located in the state of Karnataka. Situated at the base of the Chamundi hills, Mysore is a popular tourist destination and a weekend getaway particularly for the visitors from Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Mysore Palace, one of the major tourist attractions in Mysore, is known for its exquisite craftsmanship, architecture and carvings. During the ten day long Dassera festival, the palace is fully lit up with lights and is worth a look. Vrindavan Gardens, situated on the banks of Krishnarajasagar Dam, is another popular tourist spot and is famous for the lit up musical fountains. A temple dedicated to Goddess Chamundeshwari, the local deity of Mysore, is situated on the Chamundi hills and is popular as a religious centre. The other tourist attractions in Mysore are the Mysore Zoo, Tipu Sultan Palace, Lalit Mahal Palace, Railway Museum and St. Philomina’s Church.
Situated along the Arabic Sea, the coastal city of Manipal lies to the east of the Western Ghats in the state of Karnataka. Manipal lies on the suburbs of Udipi and is the biggest educational hub in the South India. The lush green vegetation of the city along with its scenic coastal beauty amalgamates to exude a charismatic facade to the city. The city is connected to the rest of the country by an extensive network of rail, road and air. Manipal to Bangalore and Manipal to Mangalore provide a convenient connectivity by a network of Manipal bus services that ply at suitable regular Manipal bus timings. The Mangalore to Manipal route is familiar to bus services at a gap of every 20 minutes. Private as well as KSRTC busses ply to and from the city regularly.
We started from Mysore exactly on time and reached Mangalore by 4-30 am. But the Driver told us that the vehicle has some problem and it is not starting without even testing it. I asked him how you say that vehicle has a problem since you have not even tried to start it. I think they had other plans and so shifted all the passengers from this bus to another bus. I had to wait for an hour to get in to other bus. I think this attitude of stopping the bus on the pretext of assumed problem and relocating the passengers should be condemned and I request you to suggest the VRL management to look into the problem and take action on the culprits.
This was my first experience and I felt that there should be some sort of protection for the upper berth passengers, in-between the two rods on the either side there should be some obstacle like we have in railways.
starts @915 pm from Vijaya bank, leaves mysore at 1045pm Total time waste to passengers. No in between stoppage good hotel for self relief. This to be done. Felt driver driving roughly lot of jerks & too much shake even it is sleeper coach. Barring above others excellent.
There is no doubt with the quality of journey, punctuality and safety of the bus. The biggest problem on this particular route (Mysore-Madikeri-Mangalore-Manipal), since I have travelled more than a 100 times no, is the lack of bathrooms during the mid-stop. It is highly inconvenient for the women passengers especially when one is travelling alone... My sincere request to find a feasible stop on this particular route and for the staff behaviour on the bus to not be rude to the passengers when asked to stop for those extra 2 mins to use the bathroom!
