Kudal is a village located in the Satara district, in Maharashtra. This village is surrounded by a river named Niranjana (also known as Kudali). Lonavala, often called Lonavla is a picturesque hill resort situated in the Pune district of Maharashtra. A popular getaway destination, Lonavala is famous for the unique charm that it possesses, especially during the Monsoons. Although it is more renowned as a hill resort, the place has achieved a special place in the gastronomic chart of the country because of a hard candy sweet known as chikki (sweetmeat made out of Groundnuts and Jaggery), which is the specialty of the region. It is also a major railway station placed on the railway line connecting Mumbai and Pune. Lonavala is also an important town along the Mumbai-Pune road. That the place is important is apparent from the fact that both the major highways - the Mumbai-Pune Expressway as well as the Mumbai-Pune highway - passes through Lonavala. Lonavala is the ideal spot to spend a quiet weekend with family and friends, away from the fast-paced city life.
Experience was mixed. I wish to highlight some problems and some good points also. 1) Bus was expected at boarding point at 6.30 pm.But was delayed by one hour. The issue was there were no numbers available for making any contact to find out the status of the bus. I wish the contact details especially the cell number of a person on the bus should be provided otherwise the traveller is in confusion especially when he is in some remote unknown area with a lady. or somebody in the office should call and give this information. Dilip Kelbaikar.
