Located in the southwestern region of Maharashtra, on the banks of River Panchaganga, lies the historical city of Kolhapur. The presence of numerous religious centers like Mahalakshmi Temple which is known for its ancient architectural style, Jyotiba Temple, Katyani Temple, Binkhambi Ganesh Mandir, Kopeshwara Temple, BhawaniTemple and Gagangiri Maharaj Math, some of them found dotting the holy river, has given the name ‘dakshinkashi’ to this city. Other than the religious presence, the city houses several forts and other historical places. Some of the major places to visit in this well-connected town are the Maharaja’s palace also known as the New palace, Shahji Chatrapati museum, Vishalgad Fort, Irwin Agricultural Museum, Radhanagari Dam, Wax museum and Bhavani Mandap, the oldest and biggest structure in Kolhapur also known as ‘glory of the city’. And who can forget about the popular and uniquely designed Kolhapuri chappals that are exported to all over the world.
Overall a good experience and recommended..
worse experience of travelling through Neeta volvo,Started journey from Goa to Kolprat 4.30pm and reach Kolhapur at 3.45
I had booked my journey at 4:00pm but the bus was canceled and I had to travel at 6:30pm bus. There was very less space for legs to stretch which you cant expect for Neeta Volvo AC bus. While traveling front wind shield was broken at night time and the passengers were worried but no one came to tell the passengers not to panic.
The bus I was about to travel was cancelled and response from the people came just one hour prior to the departure time. It should have been told in advance and the next bus where my ticket was been booked this bus was halting for more time than expected.
