The presence of numerous religious centers like Mahalakshmi Temple which is known for its ancient architectural style, Jyotiba Temple, Katyani Temple, Binkhambi Ganesh Mandir, Kopeshwara Temple, BhawaniTemple and Gagangiri Maharaj Math, some of them found dotting the holy river, has given the name ‘dakshinkashi’ to this city. Other than the religious presence, the city houses several forts and other historical places. Some of the major places to visit in this well-connected town are the Maharaja’s palace also known as the New palace, Shahji Chatrapati museum, Vishalgad Fort, Irwin Agricultural Museum, Radhanagari Dam, Wax museum and Bhavani Mandap, the oldest and biggest structure in Kolhapur also known as ‘glory of the city’. And who can forget about the popular and uniquely designed Kolhapuri chappals that are exported to all over the world.
I booked 9:45 PM bus(marathalli pick up),was changed to 05:15 PM 24 hours before travel. I requested to change to 6:45 PM,done.on the day of travel at 05:00PM I am told to come to marathalli at 05:30PM or else come to yashwantpur directly. Meanwhile they changed my ticket/Bus 5 times. Finally leaving everything I somehow reached marathalli at 05:30PM only to find out that van will leave after 06:30PM !!! these ppl dont have any value to others time and behavior of staff of call was horrible. They kept giving each others phone no. when I shouted at them they downgraded me to a bus at 11:30PM and said no pick up for you ,come to Yashwantpur on your own.
The booked bus was cancelled and I had to wait for 2 hours at the stop, if the concern authorities would have informed in advance about the change of bus and departure timings. I could have saved a lot of time and had a decent meal before boarding.
Staff kept loading people even though no seats. People were sleeping in the passage which made it difficult to walk.
Arrived One hour late
