Bus shown in the booking was scania is but the actual was an old Volvo. The seat quality was bad .
I had the most harrowing bus travel of my life in this journey on 6th June 2016. It should be noted that it has nothing to do with the quality of bus which was not bad for a Volvo multi axle. There were also punctual.
I had booked the tickets via redbus from Palakkad to Pondicherry. But I had to later change my plans and wanted to go till Chennai. (This particular bus operates between Kannur to Chennai via Pondicherry). I informed twice with the bus operators 2 days in advance-once at their customer care and also with the staff at Palakkad unit from where I boarded the bus about my change in plans. Both of them assured me that I can travel till Chennai without paying any extra amount as the ticket cost from Palakkad to Chennai and Palakkad to Pondicherry are the same.
The problem started when the bus staff woke me up from the sleep at 5AM asking me to show my bus pass. I understood that we have reached Pondicherry towards which I had booked my tickets. He was not willing to hear anything I was saying to him and started shouting at me like I was a thief who stole something from his grandma's purse. He was adamant that I should get out of the bus rather than arguing as I was delaying the journey of the other passengers. He humiliated me in front of the others and made me get up from my seat and asked me to get down from the bus. But I
did not relent to his tactics and went on telling him that his own company had agreed for my travel till Chennai. I called up the Palakkad office and the staff there, thankfully, told this guy that I had boarded with their consent. He was not too happy about it and after I disconnected the call he said that the decisions are not taken at Palakkad office but at Chennai office and that I have to pay him Rs. 300 extra. I did not listen to this argument of his and went back to my seat. After a few minutes he came back to me and said that I have to pay him Rs. 200 or else I have to get down. This guy was really getting on my nerves and was trying hard to restrain myself from loosing temper. I again called up the Palakkad office and told him what was happening. He asked me to hand over the phone to the staff and I dont know what happened after that but the guy stopped pestering me.
Such incidences could have been easily avoid only if Kallada had taken care in teaching their staffs some manners. These kind of guys should not be tolerated at all. I hope some measure is taken against this guy so that in the future the passengers are not disgraced.
However, I am thankful to the guy at Kallada Palakkad office to answer my call at wee hours of the morning more than once and resolving the issue.
