      Bus was delayed more than an hour. There was no waiting chairs also. Other than this it was a good travel.

The place is named after the Mayil or a peacock form of Lord Shiva who was worshipped by Goddess Parvathi in this location. The previous name of this place was Mayuram, meaning “peacock town”. It has been changed to Mayiladuthurai by Mayuram Municipality. It is located 281 kms away from Chennai.
