Firstly, the bus fetched up 30 min later than the scheduled time of 2235 hrs. Despite a Reporting Time mentioned in the Redbus ticket, there was no Reporting Point or anyone. In fact, all numbers of Shama Transport and the one mentioned on the ticket either went unanswered or were wrong numbers. Hence, there was no one to clarify when the bus would arrive at the pick-up point - a highly undesirable experience if one has to wait at a desolate place like Mannuthy Byepass at night.
Secondly, and importantly, our Redbus ticket had allotted me, my wife and our 12 yrs old son the seat nos 25, 26 & 27. However, we were horrified that the same seat nos were already allotted (through some other travel portal) to other passengers who had boarded the bus from earlier pick up points. The bus staff could not care less claiming that these allotments were done at their office, and so we had to sit in seats far away from each other. The conductor also tried to make us sit on the last row, which I outright refused, since if I was okay with last row seats, we could have even come to Bangalore on Sunday nights Kallada bus instead of waiting till Monday night.
Bus quality was okay, but only one blanket was provided, which meant only our son got to use it. In short, the journey was a forgetful one.
The seat allotment fiasco should be viewed by Redbus seriously, since you risk losing passengers to other travel portals or direct online booking from the transport company.
