Kolkata is the capital city of West Bengal. The former capital of British India, Kolkata is home to one of the oldest ports in the country. Kolkata has an old world charm that is reflected in its old Victorian era buildings, yellow ambassador cabs, hand pulled rickshaws and trams. Though the city has been restructured with flyovers, skyscrapers, multiplexes and business centers, Kolkata has been able to retain its essence. Victoria Memorial built in the memory of Queen Victoria is the landmark of this city. The other attractions include the Indian Museum, Marble Palace, State Archaeological Gallery, Academy of Fine Arts and Mother’s house. Kolkata has its own collection of bridges. The Rabindra Setu Bridge, popularly known as Howrah Bridge, Hooghly Bridge and Bally Bridge are a few of them. Dakshineshwar Kali temple, Kalighat temple, Tipu Sultan Mosque, and St. John’s Church are some of the popular places for worship.
Siliguri is one of the most significant towns located in the Darjeeling district in the state of West Bengal. It is strategically located along the Siliguri Corridor (also known as the Chicken’s neck), which is a thin strip of land connecting the mainland India with the northeastern part of India. Siliguri is one of the major towns in that part that it is often called the commercial centre of North Bengal. Furthermore, it serves as the transit base for those who travel to the neighbouring countries like Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Myanmar among others. Siliguri is also the gateway to several other major hill stations in the Himalayan ranges like Gangtok, Mirik, Kalimpong, Darjeeling and Kurseong, to name a few. All these hills stations are accessible only through Siliguri. Siliguri is also famous for tea plantations and hence many people come here to enjoy the beauty of this town as well.
We had started at 7.00p.m. from Dharmatala but reached siliguri next day 2.30 p.m. Morethen 19 hrs. travel in a bus is a horable experience, Royal Cruiser provide us only 500ml. of drinking water is this enough for a passenger? Stuffs are refuse to give another. Stuffs are picking up passengers from several locations i. e. Raiganj, kishangunj etc. which was not expected from Royal Cruiser like bus, anyway I was travelling this royal cruiser bus since long, but this time I was astonished. Hope the company will take necessery actions and this problem will rectify surely.
Should have more than 3 mid-stoppage on the way. They just dont stop - its only for lunch and dinner.
The bus came to Esplanade at around 8:25 pm. and started from Esplanade at around 8:30 pm., and ultimately left Salt Lake area at around 9:30 pm. for which it also reached late. But we got a fine driver for which he managed the delay to some extent. The bus has no mobile charger plug-point facility. There was a problem of regulating the air-condition hose or nozzle on the top of our seat for which, even after closing the nozzle, after we feel very cold, we saw a cold air was coming out from the same.
Had dense fog most of the way. Staffsgone crazy due to overtime. Expected cool staffs from royal cruiser.
