Kolkata is the capital city of West Bengal. The former capital of British India, Kolkata is home to one of the oldest ports in the country. Kolkata has an old world charm that is reflected in its old Victorian era buildings, yellow ambassador cabs, hand pulled rickshaws and trams. Though the city has been restructured with flyovers, skyscrapers, multiplexes and business centers, Kolkata has been able to retain its essence. Victoria Memorial built in the memory of Queen Victoria is the landmark of this city. The other attractions include the Indian Museum, Marble Palace, State Archaeological Gallery, Academy of Fine Arts and Mother’s house. Kolkata has its own collection of bridges. The Rabindra Setu Bridge, popularly known as Howrah Bridge, Hooghly Bridge and Bally Bridge are a few of them. Dakshineshwar Kali temple, Kalighat temple, Tipu Sultan Mosque, and St. John’s Church are some of the popular places for worship.
Siliguri is one of the most significant towns located in the Darjeeling district in the state of West Bengal. It is strategically located along the Siliguri Corridor (also known as the Chicken’s neck), which is a thin strip of land connecting the mainland India with the northeastern part of India. Siliguri is one of the major towns in that part that it is often called the commercial centre of North Bengal. Furthermore, it serves as the transit base for those who travel to the neighbouring countries like Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Myanmar among others. Siliguri is also the gateway to several other major hill stations in the Himalayan ranges like Gangtok, Mirik, Kalimpong, Darjeeling and Kurseong, to name a few. All these hills stations are accessible only through Siliguri. Siliguri is also famous for tea plantations and hence many people come here to enjoy the beauty of this town as well.
This bus was average. And the punctuality is very bad as it was suppose to reach Siliguri at 9 am but reached 2pm. The staff behaviour is very bad. They do not stored the bus for 4 hrs where as a old man was requesting them to stop for refreshment. The road choosen was also in bad consisting instead of National Highway.
Overall journey was good, they behaved well. Punctiality was compromised due to pathetic road conditions. Only thing I can complain that in some places they start taking local passengers which caused some more delay, but if road conditions were good then in spite of that they could reach destination at time.
The bus was 12 hrs late and very slow inspite of running late.
Even though the Bus started in time it reached silguri by 12.15, The sleeping birth condition was poor no maintenance when i got down the bus shirt was full of dust. The bus was used as a stage carrier. lot of goods loaded and unloaded in between and delivered all the way. people were boarded at different places and the staff was very busy not allowing the sleeper passenger to sit on the vacant seats. i.e expecting passengers enroute to board. never travel in this bus.
