About Kolkata

Kolkata is the capital city of West Bengal. The former capital of British India, Kolkata is home to one of the oldest ports in the country. Kolkata has an old world charm that is reflected in its old Victorian era buildings, yellow ambassador cabs, hand pulled rickshaws and trams. Though the city has been restructured with flyovers, skyscrapers, multiplexes and business centers, Kolkata has been able to retain its essence. Victoria Memorial built in the memory of Queen Victoria is the landmark of this city. The other attractions include the Indian Museum, Marble Palace, State Archaeological Gallery, Academy of Fine Arts and Mother’s house. Kolkata has its own collection of bridges. The Rabindra Setu Bridge, popularly known as Howrah Bridge, Hooghly Bridge and Bally Bridge are a few of them. Dakshineshwar Kali temple, Kalighat temple, Tipu Sultan Mosque, and St. John’s Church are some of the popular places for worship.

One of the most pathetic experiences I have ever had while traveling. Not going to recommend Dolphin Bus service to anybody. Specially in the night, the drivers ride in such a rush that they do not see any roadblocks and just keep riding at a very high speed putting the life on the line of a lot of customers

Bus condition is very bad. Very uncomfortable journey. It had a big rat inside which wont let you keep your legs down and sleep in peace. Jam packed with people in corridor as well. Stinking bus. Suspension was so bad that the bus kept on jumping throughout the way.

Though the bus was good the lever of my seat did not work hence I had to cramp myself resulting in lot of difficulties.I could not sleep properly due to this. When I said this to the staff they could not help me much. Dr.Sriraam, Kolkata.
