The bus arrived around an hour late to the Guruvayoor bus stop which is in the middle of the road. The staff on the bus also didn't seem to be bothered that we were stranded in the rain while waiting for the bus. Worse, they did not allow us to eat our food (packed from a hotel just two hours prior) in the bus, and shouted at us in a language we didn't understand to make us close the food. This was followed by spraying of room freshener, which is understandable, however not very polite. We would not have had a problem with using the freshener when a lot of people are traveling in a bus and food smell would bother the rest. But it would have been right had they let us finish the food and then done the same. We had hardly had a few bites when he came at us shouting. They claimed that they would stop the bus later for dinner, but never did - neither for bathroom use nor for eating. We had to survive on a biscuit packet for the rest of the 12+ hours journey. The staff did not assist us the night of the journey with next day drop off details, saying anything we ought to ask them the next day after 6am. Such an unruly response makes it difficult for some travelers who have to arrange for other travel after drop off. The few good parts of this journey were the helpful agent at the main Kallada office and the driver later that morning who helped us get off at a convenient spot. I hope the bus agency makes sure they appoint more cordial staff who have the courtesy to find out if the passenger understands the language in which they are conversing.
