About Tanuku

Tanuku town is located in the West Godavari district of Seemandhra, the newly formed state by dividing Andhra Pradesh. It is considered as the political capital of West Godavari and boasts of a history that goes back to the Vedic times. According to mythology, Tanuku was Tarakapuri, the kingdom of Asura king Taraksena (commonly called Tarakasura) and was named after him. Tanuku is well connected with all the important towns and cities located nearby. The Rashtrapathi Road is the main road in Tanuku and it connects all the important roads of the town with each other. The commercial activities of the town take place mostly on both sides of this long road.
